Dr. Vineet Vishwakarma

His PhD thesis on
"Experimental and numerical investigations for an advanced modeling of twophase flow and mass transfer on column trays"
completed at TU Dresden, Germany, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Uwe Hampel, was selected by an international jury as the best thesis in terms of breadth and depth of the thesis, scientific impact including industrial relevance, innovation, and dissemination of the results.

Vineet Vishwakarma obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur, India, and his Master of Technology in Nuclear Engineering and Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He then moved to Germany where he obtained his PhD from TU Dresden, followed by the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. Since June 2022, he holds the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. 

The award was presented on 21 September 2022 at the 12th International Conference on Distillation and Absorption (DA2022) held in Toulouse, France, on 18-21 September 2022.

Dr. Leila Moura

Her PhD thesis on
"Ionic liquids for the separation of gaseous hydrocarbons"
completed at CPE, University of Lyon, France, and Institut de Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand, France, under the supervision of Dr. Catherine Santini and Dr. Margarida Costa Gomes and collaboration with IFPEN, France, was selected by an international jury as the best thesis in terms of breadth and depth of the thesis, scientific impact including industrial relevance, innovation, and dissemination of the results.

Leila Moura obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemistry from the Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. After her PhD, one year in a postdoctoral researcher position and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, she currently works as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in the commercial development of a colourimetric sensor for phosphate, under the supervision of Dr Panagiotis Manesiotis, Queen’s University Belfast, United Kingdom.

The award was presented at the 11th International Conference on Distillation and Absorption (DA2018) held in Florence, Italy, on 16-19 September 2018 .

Dr. Eloy S. Sanz PÉrez

His PhD thesis on
"CO2 Capture by Mesostructured Siliceous Adsorbents Functionalized with Amino Groups"
completed in 2013 at  the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Móstoles  (Madrid, Spain) under the supervision of Professor Guillermo Calleja Pardo and Professor Raúl Sanz was selected by an international jury as the best thesis in terms of breadth and depth of the thesis, scientific impact including industrial relevance, innovation, and dissemination of the results.

Dr. Eloy Sanz Pérez obtained his Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He currently holds the position of lecturer (Profesor Ayudante) at the Chemical and Environmental Technology Department, School of Experimental Sciences and Technology of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

The award was presented on 16 September 2014 at the 10th International Conference on Distillation and Absorption (D&A2014) in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

Sanz Perez

Dr.-Ing Constantin FrericK

His PhD thesis entitled
"Rigorous Modelling, Simulation and Evolutionary Optimisation of Generic Protein Downstream Processes",
completed in 2009 at the Technical University Dortmund under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Górak, was found to be of the highest quality of all the five entries in terms of breadth and depth of the thesis, innovation, industrial relevance, dissemination of results, innovation, and scientific impact of the work

Dr.-Ing. Constantin Frerick obtained his diploma and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University Dortmund, Germany. He is currently working for Bayer Technology Services, Leverkusen, Germany, in the Process Analysis competence center.

The award was presented on 28 September 2011 in Berlin, Germany, during the session "Innovative separation technologies - Membrane separations I" of the 8th European Congress on Chemical Engineering.
