Mr. Giorgio Veronesi
(term of office: 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023)

Mr. Giorgio Veronesi, Italy, succeeds Dr. Hermann J. Feise, who held this position for four years (2018-2021); he also holds the role of EFCE Treasurer.
At the General Assembly on 27 September 2021, he was elected as the EFCE President for a two-year term of office with effect from 1 January 2022.

Giorgio Veronesi has 40 years of experience in the international engineering and construction sector and held various senior positions at engineering contractors including Foster Wheeler, Tecnimont, Siirtec Nigi and Techint. Veronesi is a member of the Executive Committee of AIDIC and first joined the Executive Board in 2016 as a trustee, serving as Executive Vice-President from 2018-2021.

Professor Jarka Glassey
(term of office: 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023)

Prof. Jarka Glassey, United Kingdom, succeeds Mr. Giorgio Veronesi, who held this position for four years (2018-2021); she also holds the role of EFCE Treasurer.
At the General Assembly on 27 September 2021, she was elected as the EFCE Executive Vice-President for a two-year term of office with effect from 1 January 2022.

Jarka Glassey is professor of chemical engineering at the University of Newcastle, UK, and former Vice President Learned Society at IChemE. She is a UK delegate to the EFCE Working Parties on Education and on Quality by Design and a Board member of EFCE's partner organisation, the European Society of Biochemical Engineering Sciences - ESBES.

Professor Michael (Mike) Considine
(term of office: 28 April 2023 to 31 December 2023)

Prof. Michael (Mike) Considine, United Kingdom, succeeds Prof. Petr Kluson, who held this position from January 2022 to March 2023. 

Professor Mike Considine has over 40 years of experience in process safety.  Initially he worked in process safety positions in the chemical, nuclear and insurance industries. In 1987, he joined BP in a corporate process safety role and went on to head a corporate team responsible for formulating policy and guidelines and providing advice on all aspects of major hazard management. In 2010 he left BP to establish his own consultancy working for a number of international oil and energy companies. In 2013, he was appointed as Professor in Process Safety and Loss Prevention at Sheffield University and also course Course Director for the MSc in Process Safety and Loss Prevention. He retired from Sheffield University at the end of 2019.

He was a winner of two BP Chairman’s Awards and the IChemE Moulton Medal. In 2007 he was awarded the IChemE Franklin Medal for “outstanding contribution to process safety  over a number of years” and in 2011 he was awarded the Arnold Greene medal for “the most meritorious long-term contribution to the progress of the Institution”.

He was Executive Vice President of the European Federation of Chemical Engineers, from 2014-2018 and is currently a member of the Executive Board.
