EFCE President

Mr. Giorgio Veronesi
(terms of office: 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023 and 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025)

Mr. Giorgio Veronesi, Italy, succeeds Dr. Hermann J. Feise, who held this position for four years (2018-2021).
At the General Assembly on 27 September 2021, he was elected as the EFCE President for a two-year term of office with effect from 1 January 2022. At the General Assembly on 17 September 2023, he was re-confirmed in the position for a second two-year term of office with effect from 1 January 2024.
Giorgio Veronesi has 40 years of experience in the international engineering and construction sector and held various senior positions at engineering contractors including Foster Wheeler, Tecnimont, Siirtec Nigi and Techint. Veronesi is a member of the Executive Committee of AIDIC and first joined the Executive Board in 2016 as a trustee, serving as Executive Vice-President from 2018-2021.

Professor Jarka Glassey
(terms of office: 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023 and 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025)

Prof. Jarka Glassey, United Kingdom, succeeds Mr. Giorgio Veronesi, who held this position for four years (2018-2021); she also holds the role of EFCE Treasurer.
At the General Assembly on 27 September 2021, she was elected as the EFCE Executive Vice-President for a two-year term of office with effect from 1 January 2022. At the General Assembly on 17 September 2023, she was re-confirmed in the position for a second two-year term of office with effect from 1 January 2024.
Jarka Glassey is professor of chemical engineering at the University of Newcastle, UK, and former Vice President Learned Society at IChemE. She is a UK delegate to the EFCE Working Parties on Education and on Quality by Design and a Board member of EFCE's partner organisation, the European Society of Biochemical Engineering Sciences - ESBES.

Professor Boelo Schuur
(term of office: 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025)

Prof. Boelo Schuur, The Netherlands, will succeed Prof. Michael (Mike) Considine, United Kingdom, on 1 January 2024. 
Boelo Schuur is full professor Sustainable Separation Technology in the Sustainable Process Technology group at the University of Twente with a main focus on affinity fluid separations. Among the application areas are biorefineries and (biobased) circular chemicals, e.g. based on microalgae, lignocellulosic biomass, pyrolytic oils from biomass and plastics, and digested wastewater.
He has presented invited plenary and keynote lectures at eight international conferences, including the plenary lecture at the International Solvent Extraction Conference, ISEC 2017 in Japan. He teaches on Industrial Chemistry and Processes (BSc), Advanced Molecular Separations (MSc), and Biorefinery (EngD). Boelo is Program Director at the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology (ISPT) in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, coordinating the research and innovation agenda of the Separations for Circularity cluster.
EFCE-related activities of Boelo include membership of the board of the Netherlands Process Technologists NPT from 2012-2018, and he was NPT-representative at the EFCE from 2013-2022.
Boelo has been member of the EFCE Working Party on Fluid Separations since 2017, serving as its secretary since 2018.
