In 2001, in addition to the EFCE Working Parties, the Federation introduced EFCE Sections. The Sections are open to any professional chemical engineer, or a specialist in a related field, who is willing to contribute to the activities of an EFCE Section and of the Federation as such.
Please note that undergraduate students will not normally accepted for Section membership.
To date, the EFCE has four sections and one associated section:

On 1 April 2011, the ESBES joined EFCE as an Associated Section.
The Section on Separation Technology was closed in September 2011.
The Sections " Environmental Protection and Sustainability" and "Process Engineeering for Sustainble Energy" were merged in April 2013 to form the Section on Sustainability.
