Working Party on Education - WPE

Welcome to the website of the EFCE Working Party on Education (WPE).

This website has been designed to become a link between everybody who is interested in education in chemical engineering in Europe or who wants to get latest information on the topic. It is offering a lot of useful information as well as links to education website of all countries participating in the WPE.
The Working Party Education (WPE) consists of members from academia and industry out of 23 European countries (+ a corresponding members from Australia). It considers the current and future education and formation of chemical engineers through higher education and continuing professional development, promoting co-operation and sharing of best practice.

Mission

Who we are and what we do

The Working Party Education (WPE) consists of members from academia and industry out of 22 European countries (+ 2 corresponding members from Australia and South Africa). It considers the current and future education and formation of chemical engineers through higher education and continuing professional development, promoting co-operation and sharing of best practice.

Objectives

  • Review current good practice, promote and provide information on
    -   "Chemical Engineering Education"
    -   "Continuing Professional Development"

  • Comply with EFCE Scientific policy and objectives:
    -   Convene regularly European actors in chemical engineering
    -   Co-ordinate events at European level to avoid overlapping
    -   Promote visibility and a strong image of the EFCE
    -   Support development of Sustainable Technology

  • Partcipate effectively in CHISA end ECCE-Conferences

Scope 2008 - 2010

  • To perform and internal SWOT analysis of the WPE.
  • To carry out a project on Good Practices in promoting Chemical Engineering.
  • To develop a project on modern ways of teaching and learning in Chemical Engineering.
  • To follow-up the Bologna process and review the EFCE-WPE Bologna recommendations.
  • To continue in developing the WPE Website as a means of communication to relevant users
